this is my second steamer it cooks much better than my metal one . its well made and fits nicely to gather I have used it twice and feel it is well worth the money . The bamboo has a slight split on the inside . very small area and i have decided not to return it. It cleans up quickly and dries quickly . I did not have a steam pan to set it on so i used my skillet . bums take about 20 minutes .. add a little white vinegar to the boiling water. helps the buns to stay whiter , judy

I know some reviewers dissed the quality of this steamer, but mine arrived as shown and looks and works great. I think there are some Westerners who don't understand the idea of cooking with something bamboo, so their reviews may lack understanding. When you think about it, cooking with wooden products is much less likely to leave undesirable chemical residues and/or particles in your food. Like Teflon, for example. I am mostly using this steamer for fish. It works beautifully! Just read the directions that come with the package and don't wash it with soapy water!!! Bamboo, like all wooden products, absorbs moisture and flavors, so keep that in mind. I just rinse mine in very hot water and leave it to air dry overnight. The directions also advise using a plate under your fish or other smelly items to minimize how much the bamboo absorbs. Good idea!

I am a cooking-impaired male. I decided (or rather, She decided) that it was time I learned to cook, so I decided to try this steamer. I can proudly say that I am on my way to becoming a fairly good cook, and She is very pleased with me!! Guys, if you have never steamed before (don't know how to cook rice) this is the steamer to buy. Purchase the streamer, then go to YouTube for recipes, and your significant other will be very pleased.

I steam just about everything in these steamers! Asparagus, broccoli, and bok choy all come out amazing with these steamers. I specifically purchased these steamers to make Asian shumai and dumplings (which this steamer cooks perfectly) and then I started looking for other things to cook! Pros: - High quality. These steamers feel sturdy and well constructed. - Cooks fast. Asparagus takes less than 5 minutes to steam on high heat. - Comes with 3 levels for steaming multiple items at once Cons -None Steps: 1. Fill a pot about 1/4 of the way with water (make sure the water level isn't high enough to touch the steamers or boil over) and turn it on medium high to high heat. 2. Place the steamers over the opening of the pot. 3. Place food in the steamer, cover, and wait. I've used many steamers in the past that were nowhere near as good as this one. I highly recommend this product!

My husband and I are cutting down on our fried food and we love Asian food, so this steamer settles both issues deliciously! I recently made potstickers and they came from the steamer fluffy and tender. We'll be using the set again very soon! As suggested, I used steamer liners to keep the bamboo fresh and prevent sticking; I recommend that a liner always be used, and they're not expensive. After using metal steamers, this set prepares all kinds of food much better. This steamer is a fine example of what I expect from someone of Joan Chem's status but still priced extremely well. It arrived on time and in perfect condition.

This product is made for me, the woman who has minimal cooking skills. Lol. It is so easy. I pour water in a pan and turn it on high to boil. I put my vegetables in the basket and leave the basket sitting on top of the pan. 6-8 min and the vegetables come out perfect every time. Thank you!

I really love my bamboo steamer. I make veggie dumplings all the time - you need a little bit of oil to prevent sticking to the steamer. Perhaps I haven't found the secret way of getting them to not stick, though. Either way, my friends LOVE when I bring out the steamer for gatherings. It's a fun prop for gatherings. It's held up well over the years.

This is the first steamer I have ever purchased and I love it. I spent a lot of time researching steamers and am very pleased with this one. i am trying to get away from using the microwave and this is a great alternative. I use it to steam vegetables, chicken and fish and also make homemade baby food. It is also a great way to reheat leftovers. Foods that would normally get dry and rubbery in the microwave come out moist and tasting fabulous from the steamer. i just put my food on a plate and put it right inside of the steamer. Its mess free. i purchased the steamer ring and tongs to lift the plates out and am glad I did. The bonus is that this steamer looks great on the kitchen counter!

This is a fantastic addition to any kitchen. Primarily I use it to heat up leftovers. I am a single widowed senior. I usually cook more than one meal at a time. It is amazing how fast this warms up food without changing the texture (as a microwave does or the oven). I have not had it long enough to do much cooking but plan doing some experimenting after the holidays. It fits perfectly on my chicken fryer that doesn't have a long handle.

This is the best made bamboo steamer on the market, identical to the Iron Chef ones. The bottom slats are better and more solidly put together than other brands, the bamboo ties are neatly finished. If you ever need to steam a lot at the same time, you can stack as many as 4-6 racks high with just one lid at the top. I like to use the parchment paper liners which make clean-up easier since the rice wrappings in Tim Sums tend to get stuck in between the slats otherwise but you can make those liners at home by purchasing rolls of parchment paper, cut them to size and punch out holes with a hole puncher. The 10" size fit easily on top of most deep frying pans (to hold the water for steaming).
